Overall rating: 4.7 I recently visited Mexico City and had the most amazing matcha cookie. I was determined to find the equivalence in NYC. This place had high rating of matcha and fortunately saw they also offered cookies. They know their worth because this place is expensive. They are also very authentic so I get it. The cookie was goodish, close to the taste I was trying to match. The matcha was just not hitting it for me. I saw them add the milk and I couldn’t taste any of it. I don’t know the kind of matcha I like but I know it’s not because of this place. This place is good, it’s just not for me.

Mika’s Direction offers an authentic Japanese flavor in its drinks. The matcha is a perfect 10/10, but they also have other fantastic options like hojicha (my favorite), black tea, and more. They offer both tea powders and loose leaf or tea bag options, which are fantastic. My absolute favorite is the black tea bag and the black tea cookie, they’re incredible! They also have unique drink options like the strawberry lemonade sparkling, which is amazing. They also have a wonderful selection of items for sale, like matcha bowls, Japanese teapots, whisks, and more. Plus, all their teas are available for purchase, so you can enjoy them at home too! The staff is always very friendly and provides the high standard of service you'd expect in Japan, but right here in NYC. Highly recommended!

matcha was so fresh!! i watched the barista make it in front of me the moment i ordered. everything was made in house, from the mango puree and the black jelly. the matcha is from the owner’s home town and she was so sweet.

Such a lovely new matcha cafe that opened recently. The entrance can be a little hard to find (and the name is stylised with a か, which added a little bit of confusion haha), but the unassuming entrance belies the wonderfully fragrant and cosy inside. The decor is very no-frills, which I appreciate, and they have some interesting gift-shop-esque items for sale in the back. The matcha was delicious (rich without being too heavy) with just the right amount of sweetness (tasted a hint of the underlying bitter flavour) and a perfect proportion of milk (wasn't too watery). Price point (7.something) wasn't too bad actually -- practically a steal by NYC latte standards nowadays haha. I was really impressed with my drink and would love to come again!

Had an oat strawberry matcha latte and their matcha strawberry cookie which was fresh out of the oven. They put so much effort and care into their food and drinks! As a barista myself and avid tea and coffee sourcing learner, this is one of the best matcha spots I have been to. Matcha is incredibly high quality and smooth. The owners specially source the matcha from their hometown in Japan. Would recommend this to everyone. Brought me so much happiness on my day off, thank you :)

I went here yesterday and it was the BEST matcha I’ve had in my life. I had the iced strawberry matcha latte and it was scrumptious. It’s a small spot but decorated well and the vibes are super friendly/warm. As soon as I came in, I was greeted with kindness 3 The matcha was whisked right in front of me and was more than perfectly done!! I am coming back at least once every week-my new to go spot. I have not tried the cookies but they look delicious too

I visited here a few days ago for the first time and I had a good experience. The location was smaller than I expected but service was great and she whisked the matcha in front of us (my friend and I) which I liked. I got an iced matcha latte with almond milk, very nice authentic matcha flavor.

This is a legit matcha place! I got a matcha latte and my sis got the strawberry matcha latte. The matcha is very smooth - the staff actually does the matcha whisking in front of you. Both the owner and staff are very nice. Place is super small tho so you’ll most likely need to order and go
